Start with both address blocks
Your name, address and email at the top and the client's underneath are the two blocks people most often leave half-finished when they start from an empty form.
Number it before the line items
Choose a pattern you can carry forward — 2026-014, then 2026-015 — and fill the invoice number field first, because it is the one that gets skipped.
Two dates, not one
Fill the issue date and the due date both; a blank form with only one date leaves the payment deadline entirely up to the reader.
