Why there is only ever one moms rate to pick
Denmark runs a single moms rate, which makes it unusual in Europe. 25% applies to virtually everything, and there are no reduced bands the way there are across the Øresund in Sweden, which runs 12% and 6% alongside its 25%. Denmark's only alternative is a zero rate on a short list: newspapers published more often than once a month, and international passenger and goods transport. So the tax line rarely needs touching — leave it as moms at 25%, keep the currency on DKK, and the amount is worked out on your subtotal after any discount.
A faktura needs your name and address, your CVR-nummer, the customer's name and address, a number from a consecutive series, the issue date, the delivery date where it differs, what you supplied and how much of it, the price before moms and the moms shown separately. There is no field for a registration number, so put the CVR on a line under your business name — "CVR-nr. 38 41 27 06" for a Danish customer, or the DK-prefixed form when you are quoting it as a VAT number to a buyer elsewhere in the EU.
Payment details go in the notes as well: your reg.nr. and kontonr., the terms — 8 or 14 days is common for a private customer, 30 for a business — and any rykkergebyr you intend to charge. Then three limits worth naming up front. A business under the DKK 50,000 turnover threshold does not register for moms at all, in which case you clear the tax rate and no moms line appears. Danish public authorities only accept an electronic invoice sent to their EAN number through NemHandel, which this tool does not do; it makes a PDF. And bogføringsloven now pushes almost everyone onto digital bookkeeping — from 1 January 2026 that reached personally owned businesses turning over more than DKK 300,000 — so the PDF you download is a document, not the system your records have to live in.
Start from the measured area, not the room count
Kjærgaard quotes floor work off a measurement, so the surveyed 84 m² drives the two lines that carry most of the invoice: one rate to sand the oak back to bare wood, a lower one for the three coats of lacquer that follow. Masking the flat and building a dust wall is a flat sum because it takes the same morning whatever the size of the rooms, the twelve damaged parquet blocks are billed by the piece, and each trip across town is a fixed charge. Moms is 25%, because in Denmark there is nothing else to choose.
| Description | Qty | Rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slibning af massivt egetræsgulv — pr. m² | 84 | DKK 95.00 | DKK 7,980.00 |
| Lakering, 3 lag vandbaseret lak — pr. m² | 84 | DKK 45.00 | DKK 3,780.00 |
| Afdækning og opsætning af støvvæg — fast pris | 1 | DKK 1,450.00 | DKK 1,450.00 |
| Udskiftning af beskadigede stavparketbrikker | 12 | DKK 68.00 | DKK 816.00 |
| Kørsel, Aarhus C — pr. gang | 2 | DKK 295.00 | DKK 590.00 |

Name the unit in the description — a customer who reads "pr. m²" beside 84 can check the arithmetic without ringing you about it.
A faktura that a revisor will accept
CVR-nr. under your business name
Type it into the sender address block as a line of its own, and give the DK-prefixed VAT form instead when the customer is in another EU country and needs it for their own return.
A number from a consecutive series
Danish rules want fakturanumre running consecutively with nothing skipped or reused, and this form accepts any text you type and assigns nothing itself, so the sequence is yours to keep — look up the last number you issued before you type the next one.
The delivery date as well as the issue date
There are issue and due date fields but no leveringsdato field, so when the work finished on a different day from the invoice put the date or the period in the notes or in the line description.
Bank details and rykkergebyr in the notes
Nothing on the form collects reg.nr., kontonr. or payment terms, so the notes carry all three plus the kr. 100 reminder fee if you charge it — and ask the customer to quote the fakturanummer when they transfer.
The PDF is not your bookkeeping
Download it, send it, then record it wherever you actually keep your books: bogføringsloven requires a digital bookkeeping system meeting the statutory requirements, and since 1 January 2026 that reaches personally owned businesses over DKK 300,000 of turnover. A folder of PDFs is not one.

Frequently asked questions
Does Denmark have a reduced moms rate?
No. 25% applies to almost everything sold in Denmark, and the only alternative is a zero rate on a narrow list such as newspapers issued more often than monthly and international transport. Rules change, so check anything unusual with a revisor before you invoice it.
Where do I write my CVR number?
On a line under your business name in the address block, since there is no dedicated field. Use "CVR-nr. 38 41 27 06" for a Danish customer and the DK-prefixed form, DK38412706, for an EU customer who needs your VAT number.
Can I invoice a kommune or another public authority with this?
Not directly. Danish public bodies take electronic invoices sent to their EAN number via NemHandel, and this produces a PDF, so those need an e-invoicing service. It is fine for private customers and for businesses that accept a PDF by email.
Do I have to charge moms if I have only just started?
Below DKK 50,000 of taxable turnover in twelve months you may not need to register, and you invoice without moms — clear the tax rate so no line shows and note that you are not registered. Thresholds move, so confirm with SKAT or an accountant.
